IDEMIA’s facial recognition ranked #1 by NIST
IDEMIA, global leader in augmented security has announced that its 1:N facial recognition algorithm has ranked first out of 114 systems tested in the latest NIST FRVT1 test, which evaluates the performance of facial recognition technologies in one-to-many (1:N) scenarios, comparing a facial image to a large database of face images. IDEMIA achieved the highest accuracy score, with 99.88% accurate matches out of 12 million facial images.
Cutting-edge performance in a context of fairness and demographic parity
One of the major aspects of automated facial recognition using AI is to teach algorithms not only to be accurate but also fast and optimized to ensure their impartiality, both equally essential criteria. IDEMIA has successfully found the right balance when facing large volumes of facial images, offering the best combination of speed, accuracy, and demographic parity. IDEMIA’s facial recognition solutions work with or without masks and are now able to process side-profiled facial images.
Recognized technological leadership
The results of the FRVT test add to a series of awards received by IDEMIA for its augmented security solutions, especially in facial and fingerprint recognition. The company is committed to developing the most advanced technologies to offer solutions that provide speed, accuracy, and fairness. The results of the FRVT test once again demonstrate IDEMIA’s technological leadership in the field of biometrics, confirming its position as a leader in biometric technologies and innovations for over 40 years.
A mission of augmented security
These results reflect the level of technological excellence that IDEMIA has set for its AI solutions, in line with its mission to make the world a safer place by developing cutting-edge identity technologies.
IDEMIA is proud to outperform its competitors and provide authorities with the most performant systems on the market, continuing its long-standing commitment to augmented security.
